Parking sensors

A rear-view cam or parking sensors might be a good option if you're thinking of buying a car. These safety features can reduce your blind spots and prevent your car from denting in tight parking spaces. The best thing about these safety features is that they don't cost a lot. Many manufacturers sell such systems for as little as $100. Here are some of these reasons.

Touchscreen head unit

Old cars can have a difficult touchscreen head unit, but aftermarket ones are easy to make. Models today include Bluetooth and climate control. Even better, aftermarket touchscreen heads units are more versatile than ever and can be used in almost any car-related task. It is possible to have an Android-powered headunit installed even if your car has been in service for over 20 years.

Parallel parking

You might be curious how it is possible to parallel park an old car. This was not an easy task back in the 1930s. It required manual maneuvering. Fortunately, an inventor had an innovative solution. The invention, which isn't named, dates back to 1933. The Tesla Model S now fits into spaces 22 percent smaller that the cars it replaces with ultrasonic sensors. While the invention was initially limited to parking on a tight corner, the technology is now available for a wider variety of vehicles.

Changing rubber brake hoses for stainless steel

An excellent idea is to replace rubber brake lines with stainless-steel ones for an old car. The brake line is the most exposed component of a car, and can be damaged by environmental factors like UV rays or road debris. This can cause corrosion and decrease the structural integrity of the brake line. A new hose will make your car's brakes more reliable and help prevent any brake system failure.

Add a touchscreen headunit to an older car

Many people are curious if it is possible to put a touchscreen headunit in an old car. The answer is yes. But first, choose the right touchscreen head unit for your vehicle. All new models are equipped with climate control and touchscreens. If your car is not equipped with a touchscreen, you'll need to measure the dash in order to decide the right size.

A mechanic needs to be able and quick to use their manual dexterity. They should be able to accurately diagnose problems and repair them efficiently.

A technician in automotive is more technical than a mechanic. They should be able read blueprints and use tools like drills and wrenches.

They must be able and competent to safely perform complicated procedures. They need to be familiar with various types of engines and electrical system.

They must also be able comprehend how the various parts interrelate with one another.

This means that mechanics usually make less money than automotive technicians. But there are many opportunities for both jobs.

How long does an automotive course take?

An automotive course lasts for three years.

The first year is dedicated to theory and learning about cars. The second year is dedicated to practical training, where you will learn how to fix cars, drive them, and do other jobs around the car. The final year includes a placement at an auto shop. This gives you real-world experience fixing real problems.

How long does an apprenticeship in automotive mechanics last?

It takes three years to complete an apprenticeship as an automotive mechanic. This includes two year at school as well as two years as an apprenticeship. The first year of training is spent in the trade. This includes theory and practical skills as well as safety procedures. During this time, you'll also learn how to use tools safely and efficiently. After the completion of the first year, you will spend another year on the job training. Here you'll gain valuable experience in different trades. These are also the times you can attend formal courses.

The last year of your program will be spent earning qualifications and becoming certified. These include NVQs or National Vocational Qualifications. These are earned after passing exams that cover specific topics in the industry. The HNCs (Higher National Certificates), on the other hand, cover general subjects like customer service and management. City & Guilds certificates may be available for those who are interested in becoming qualified in specific trades.

Can I work as an auto mechanic without a degree? Can I do part-time studies?

Although it's not mandatory, a degree can help. Employers will prefer candidates who have completed a degree. It shows that you've worked hard and are determined to succeed.

This doesn't necessarily mean you can't continue to work while studying. Some universities let students complete their coursework in the summer and then continue their studies during the school year. Some universities allow students to take part-time classes throughout the year.

How To

How to Become an Automotive Technician

An automotive technician performs repairs and maintains vehicles. He/she works at car dealerships, auto shops, garages, service centers, etc. Customers can rely on him/her to fix their cars, trucks and motorcycles. An automotive technician must know how to diagnose problems and perform repairs efficiently, safely, accurately, quickly, and correctly.

To become an automotive technician, a person must first earn an associate's degree from a vocational college. After completing this program, he/she will need to pass the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence's (ASE) certification exam. ASE stands as American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The ASE certification test consists two sections. One section tests knowledge of mechanical components, while the other section tests skills in practical areas. To pass the test you must go to one of the authorized testing facilities. You can find these locations online or through your local automobile dealer.

After passing the test, a candidate must pass a state examination before becoming licensed as an automotive technician. This process is different depending on where you live. Some states require applicants to take a training course while others allow them the freedom to study on their own. In addition, some states license technicians immediately after they receive their license, while others wait until they have completed at least six months of employment as an automotive technician.

A person must apply to an auto dealership in order to get started as an automobile technician. Most new employees begin as apprentices once they are hired. Apprenticeships last for three years. Students learn basic repair skills such as changing oil and adjusting brakes, changing tires, cleaning spark plugs and inspecting engine compartments. Some students are able to perform more advanced repairs such as replacing shocks and installing air filters. Schools offer classes during business hours. However, some schools offer evening classes if needed.

When a student has completed his/her apprenticeship, they become a journeyman. Journeymen generally spend four- to five decades learning how to fix major systems like transmissions. You will also learn how to repair complicated electrical components, as well as how to remanufacture engines and rebuild transmissions. Employers prefer to hire journeymen as they are familiar with the job and can anticipate customer needs.

Candidates who pass the required exams are eligible for a license. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that there were nearly 1.7 million jobs available for automotive mechanics in 2010. That number was expected to grow by 18 percent from 2009 to 2020. The candidate should expect to invest thousands of money in equipment and supplies if he/she decides to start his/her shop.

Many factors affect the automotive technician's salary, including location, education, experience, and employer type. On average, an unemployed person could earn $20,000 annually. Someone with only a high school diploma could earn around $21,000 per year. A bachelor's degree is equivalent to approximately $24,000 annually. Technicians with bachelor's degrees earn approximately $27,000 per year. And those with master's degrees made around $32,000 per year. Salary increases are common, so a professional who earns less than $30,000 now could reasonably expect to earn $40,000 or more in just a few years.
